PRIVATE / RESTRICTED FACEBOOK
Use the browser extension when Facebook requires login.
If the server cannot capture a Facebook post publicly, use the authenticated browser capture workflow. You open Facebook yourself, log in yourself, and preserve what is visible in your own browser.
Checking whether the Web Evidence extension is already installed…
Step 1 — Download the extension
Download the Web Evidence Facebook extension
Unzip it locally after download.
Step 2 — Install it in Chrome / Chromium
- Open chrome://extensions.
- Enable Developer mode.
- Click Load unpacked.
- Select the unzipped browser-extension folder.
Step 3 — Capture the Facebook post
- Open Facebook normally and log in yourself.
- Open the exact post you want to preserve.
- Expand comments/content you want visible.
- Click the extension.
- Return to this Web Evidence website once after installing the extension. The site automatically configures the extension with the correct evidence-service address.
- Open Facebook, open the exact post, then click Capture current Facebook view.
Important provenance distinction:
this workflow is labelled Authenticated user-side browser capture.
It is not represented as an independent public server capture.
The evidence report preserves that distinction.
